Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Lion President Doro called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

Secretary’s Report: Lion Spagl offered a motion to accept the secretary’s minutes as recorded. A second was made by Lion Boedeker. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Lion Charon moved to accept the report as presented, with a second offered by Lion Spranger. Motion carried.

Lion News:
A list of activities for “B.O.L.D.” is available to view. Drivers are NOT needed for these events.

The club received an invitation to Fairview’s Holiday program Friday Dec. 15th from 1-2 PM. Lion Ernst volunteered to attend and represent us.

Lion President Doro received a letter from Lions Camp announcing they had received the funds the Camp needed for a new Health Center.

Committee Reports:
Entertainment Books:
Lion Shepich reported that 48 books were sold. Al unsold books and all money should have been turned in. Extra books are available at REPCO. Lion Spranger made a motion to donate the club’s “free” book to the District Convention for raffle, as we have done in past years. Lion Ernst offered a second. Motion carried.

Park Committee: Lion Ehley recapped the progress on the new building. Lumber, drywall, urethane, insulation, stone, carpentry, windows, bathroom fans, drywall spray and a lot of labor have all been donated. Lion Spranger reminded the group that we may need to cover the bill for the furnace installation for the Village, if the bill arrives before Jan. 1st. If this occurs, we will be reimbursed after the 1st of the year. Needed yet is the flooring and kitchen equipment. He has heard there is much interest from others to rent out the building. Lion Spranger recommended we visit the building on Jan. 2nd, our next business meeting.
State Bowling: A check has been sent to reserve March 31st as our bowling date.
Christmas Party: The Christmas Party is Sunday, Jan. 14th at Seigo’s in Sussex. The cost is $25.00 per person and all must RSVP to attend. This dinner replaces the Jan. dinner meeting.

Old Business: Lion Ernst attended Tyler Rohr’s induction ceremony to Eagle Scouts. Tyler plans to attend a future Lions meeting and share pictures of the ceremony.

New Business:
Lion President Doro asked that everyone start thinking NOW about committee assignments or an officer position in 2007-2008.

All members will have the opportunity to organize and run the club’s Pancake Breakfast and Beef/Bird tent. A major focus in 2007 is to capture, organize and document the knowledge accumulated by former committee chairmen, which should enable other Lion members to successfully manage these event.

On a club level, membership records will be updated in 2007. A “Member Profile” form will be sent to everyone soon.

Lion Charon motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:28 pm following a second by Lion Ernst. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Lion Secretary Sandy Burkhalter

Christmas Came Early
Boedekers & Sprangers = 7
Ernsts & Spagle =0
Bowling was Fun!

Fellow Lions,

A club that plays together stays together. It’s not just the social aspect of Lionism that’s important. It has a lot to do with having a common goal to give to others. I know there was an embarrassing amount of gifts under our Christmas tree this year. But it’s not the same spirit of giving that you feel when handing the victims of a house fire a check, giving a deserving student a scholarship, or donating money for a community project. I encourage you to attend our Jan. 2, 2007 Board meeting. We plan to hold it in the new building at Schneider Field. Wear a pair of jeans because it will be dusty. There are no restroom facilities so plan accordingly. Come and see what our influence, hard work, and funds have been used for.
Lion S. Burkhalter ordered a Lions International Sign several months ago, I have often thought about getting the ladder out and hanging it on the front of the building. The thought of doing that alone or with only one other person helping to get it centered just didn’t seem right. It needs to be a bit more symbolic than that. I’ve been called a dreamer, and for that reason I still pinch myself to make sure I’m awake when I see our new home as a work in progress.

The Prez Sez

Happy New Year, welcome to 2007, ready or not here it comes, kinda like your tax bill. The vision of the Lannon Lions, with the help of some fine people in the community, will make the Community Center-Concession Stand a reality for this year’s baseball season. The project has taken a little longer to complete than we originally thought, but when you see it, you will realize that it was worth the wait. Another goal would be to increase our membership by two or three to help fill the room up.
Good health to all of you in 2007, especially Lion Jim Reimer who has been hospitalized recently. Thanks for all of your help in 2006! (Lion Ernst you may want to see someone about that bowling elbow, before they kick you off your team!)

Yours in Lionism,

Lion President Jim Doro

RE:MARK

I spend way too much time with Lion Ehley’s wife, La Vern, so I did not get the member profile or committee and officer survey finished. Darlene, you are a Saint (or just crazy)

Take Notes

The January 2, 2007 Board Meeting will be held at the Schneider Field Building at 7:00. Wear your grubbies. Please remember to bring your Christmas Party Menu selections and money with you.

There is no January Dinner Meeting Lion Stan Miller
